Utilising a deliberately random multi-tracking in Ableton of Komplete instruments and FX Flintpope made a number of samples that had a core key yet little sense of musical beauty. The wavs were then treated to Audacity’s range of FX and “Create DTMF Tone” etc. to add some random structures. Going against the grain of creating balanced sounds the aim was to get surprising individual samples that could become the germ of a new tune or kick-off an improvisation into unexpected musical areas.
